General Info:
The Maui Sunset is located on over 5 acres of oceanfront at Kihei which is considered one of the best locations on the Valley Isle. Kihei is noted for its year round sunshine, balmy trade winds, and soothing evening air. It is one of the driest and sunniest areas on the entire island, averaging only 10 inches a year! World famous swimming and snorkeling beaches are minutes away at one of the many sandy safe beaches at Kihei and nearby Wailea. Just a short distance (6 miles) from five championship 18 hole resort golf courses at Wailea and Makena. The two buildings frame and protect a large recreational area that is carefully attended and landscaped. The 60 foot swimming pool with its broad decks and abundance of pool furniture invites you to improve on your tan.

  We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Maui Sunset! Check in and out was a breeze and the rental apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the palm trees and ocean. We didn’t use many of the available stuff in the home but it would be perfect for families to stay and have enough room to spread out, cook some meals, etc. Even had some ocean gear available so no rentals were needed elsewhere! If planning to stick around Kihei/Wailea for the beaches, food, activities there, it’s a great location and very quick drives!

  We discovered the Maui Sunset about 12 years ago and this is probably our seventh time coming here. The pool area and the grounds are impeccable and the balcony is what makes this place so special. The rooms are comfortable, not huge but my wife loves the fact that there are two bathrooms, even if the one ( mine) is a bit small ( but still has it’s own shower). The higher up you go, the better the view and the closer you can get to the ocean the better. Since our son lives on the island we come often and have found that the Maui Sunset is perfect for us and this is the only place we would consider staying. Our unit A-413 was a bit dated but clean and well maintained. Have always stayed on the 4th or 5 th floors and remember, the higher the number, the closer you get to the ocean. The beach area is beautiful for watching those million dollar sunsets but remember, it is not a swimming beach, too rocky. You’ll need to go down the road to a nearby beach if you want to go in the water. The Sunset is also located in a much less crowded area of Kihei than further south and there is plenty of shopping nearby. We love it here and will continue to visit whenever we come back to Maui.

  The condo worked well for my family of 4. It was not the newest of anything but it served it's purpose well for us. The 2 bathrooms were great and my kids slept on the couch bed. We were able to do laundry a couple of times which meant less clothes to pack. We loved the pool and the easy access to the beach. The condo grounds were beautifully maintained. We had some ants the first couple of days but they went away with a treatment from maintenance. The condo was clean but had wear and tear upon close inspection. If I wanted new and updated I would have paid more for one of those units. It was my second stay at the Maui Sunset and I would stay again.

  We visited for 2 weeks and once settled in we were pleased. Main issue we had was our plane was late and we arrived late on a Saturday evening. The office was closed until Monday. While we had instructions to enter our unit we were not able to contact anyone to get key fobs to use the pool area until Monday. This was very disappointing. When you only have a short visit you hate to loose a day at the pool!! The unit was a expected, dated but clean and adequate. The TV had very limited channels. The shower in the master bathroom was broken, but after 4 phone calls they came and fixed it. The location in the building was very good. The balcony was sunny all day long and was too hot to enjoy in the afternoon. The unit was as described and expected. The pool and grounds were excellently maintained. The beach was nice for walking and playing in the sand (a turtle came to visit one day), but the water was very rocky and can not recommend for swimming. Groceries and restaurants nearby. We enjoyed using the BBQs. I recommend, and hope to visit again.

  Maui Sunset was a good place to stay. There is nothing spectacular about it, but not horribly wrong with it either. Felt safe, room and property were clean. The beach at the edge of the grass is not a swimming beach. You want to head down to the 10+ beaches along keihi road.

  We enjoyed our 2 week stay here! The condo furnishings were pretty basic but functional. We had an issue with the microwave but it was acted on quickly but took a few days to fix. The health club was the biggest disappointment. The equipment is excellent but it is in what is essentially a dungeon. The grounds are beautiful and the sunsets incredible (the conch shells played each night as the sun sank into the ocean were just amazing). The pool and the hot tub are good although the hours for those and the fitness room were disappointing. They didn't open until 8 AM. Overall a great place! We are planning to go back next year.

  First thing to know is that Maui Sunset Condos are individually owned and updated as the owners see necessary. Theerefore, some units have been updated, while others have not. We stayed in one of the older units that had not been updated. We would have given a 5 star review for everything as our stay was wonderful in almost every aspect. The carpet in ours needed to be replaced. Kitchen a bit dated as well. That being said, everything else was fabulous: location, views, amenities, pool, tropical feeling, etc. All exterior aspects were clean and spotless. Highly recommend and will most likely return.

  Maui Sunset is a large complex with a great green space between the 2 buildings. Great place to run around with kids! Saw people playing croquet and bocci ball there too. Pool - great. Water is quite warm, lots of chairs. Our unit was a 1 bedroom - quite spacious. Bathrooms really dated, need updating. Kitchen well stocked. Living area nice. View from the lanai was amazing - great place to watch the sunsets! Would stay there again. If you want a quiet place to stay though Maui Sunset is not for you.

  Maui Sunset was chosen because it is beachfront and the price was affordable compared to other locations. Paid for Ocean Front view for a one bedroom. Was expecting a better ocean front view from the booking pictures; however, was informed the closer ones are two bedrooms. Checked in about 9:30pm-10:00pm late flight, office was closed and a note was posted to call the outside phone. The operator gave instructions to get the key and seemed to be on limited time to talk, so conversation ended. We didn't know where to go and had to call again. Security was sent out to help us...we found our room. Over all, the room was wonderful and to our amazement equipped with all the things we needed (kitchen utensils, pots/pans, washer/dryer, beach chairs/towels, etc.) This place is perfect for a family...BBQ outside...and it wasn't noisy the times we were there. Someone even had a wedding reception close to the beach, which was beautiful to watch.

  The Condo was dirty upon arrival. Hair still in the shower and on the bathroom floor. Dirty kitchen floors. It would have been more pleasant had it been clean upon arrival. Otherwise a nice stay.

  This rental has great proximity to the ocean, no road going in front of it as many have. adjacent to a public park with a couple tennis courts make this a great choice. Furniture and unit are dated but clean. Only new thing was tile on walls in bathrooms. Not a great view but a good view.

However, I paid for a Superior Ocean View unit and was placed in a unit with a Standard Ocean View....which is my singular complaint.

Your family owns "oceanfront" which only exist in the 2 bedrooms. An upgrade from the standard interior to a premium would have been a little higher. Let me know next time if you'd like to go with a 2 bedroom or a premium condo. Steve
